Will my phone work if the power goes out?

Your home phone from Wave gets connected to the outside world through a device we provide called an Multimedia Modem.

Your Multimedia Modem will look like this:

If your home experiences a loss of power, your home phone will continue to operate if your Multimedia Modem has a back-up battery installed.

Your Multimedia Modem comes standard with a back-up battery designed to keep your home phone operating in the event of a loss of power for about four (4) hours.

If you want, you can purchase a back-up battery designed to keep your home phone operating in the event of a power outage for about ten (10) hours. The battery model designed for the Multimedia Modem device provided by Wave is the Arris ARCT00830.

These longer lasting batteries are available from online retailers like amazon.com and sears.com.  The average price to purchase this 10-hour back-up battery from these online retailers ranges from $15 to $40, so shop wisely.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Cordless phones also require a battery powered back-up unit to remain functional if you experience a loss of power. If you want to be sure you can use your home phone in the event of a power loss, be sure your phone either will not require power (doesn’t plug into a power outlet in the wall) or has its own battery back-up unit.
