Despite the different models of DVRs we rent out, each of them is able to make recordings by navigating to the channel or program you want recorded and pressing "rec" on the remote control. If you run into issues making recordings, playing them back, or any other issues with DVR functionality here are some steps you can take:
- First, unplug the power cord from the back of your DVR. While this is unplugged, check the COAX cable that leads from your cable outlet on your wall, to the back of your cable box - it is a thick round cable with metal ends. This is the cable that brings the signal to the cable box. This cable needs to be tight on the back of the box, and on the wall outlet or splitter. Once you've checked the signal cable, plug the power cord back in and wait for the DVR to boot up.
- Once the DVR has booted back up, test your recording functions once more. Sometimes the DVR needs an extra couple of minutes for the DVR functions to load as they're integrated with the guide and menu. These functions don't boot up immediately once the DVR gets power to it, so wait a few minutes and try again.
