If you have noticed that your cable picture sometimes breaks up into squares or lines, or blacks out altogether, you may be experiencing poor reception. Here are some things you can check to help alleviate the symptoms:
- If you are using a cable box, please make sure it has adequate ventilation. There should be at least 2" (5.08cm) on the top, back, and sides of the cable box without any objects resting on it. If the cable box does not have adequate ventilation it can overheat and suffer poor reception.
- Double check the COAX cable that leads from your cable outlet on your wall, to the back of your cable box - it is a thick round cable with metal ends. This is the cable that brings the signal to the cable box. This cable needs to be tight on the back of the box, and on the wall outlet or splitter.
- Power cycle the cable box by unplugging it from power for a few seconds, then plugging it back in.
