How can I retrieve my wireless password and configuration settings?

When our technicians set up a rental wireless router or gateway, your wireless password is set your ten-digit primary contact number. If this default password is not working, try these steps to locate your password:

  • You will need a computer that is able to get online. Ideally, this computer should be wired into your router with an Ethernet cord, and not connected wirelessly.
  • With this computer, open an internet browser of your choice. The next steps will vary depending on the kind of wireless device you are renting from us:

Cisco-Linksys Routers:

In the address bar at the top left of your browser, enter "192.168.1.1" and hit enter or "go". You will be prompted to log in. Enter the word "admin" for both the user name, and password. This is case sensitive and should be entered as all lower-case letters.

Once you have logged in, click on "Wireless" from the menu. On older router models, you will then have to click on "Wireless Security" on the sub-menu that opens up. Your password information will be located here.

Cisco-Linksys Routers Models WRT54G, E2000, and E2500:

Cisco-Linksys Routers Models EA2700:

Cisco Smart WiFi (interface sometimes used with EA2700 Models):

Arris Gateway:

In the address bar at the top left of your browser, enter "192.168.0.1" and hit enter or "go". You will be prompted to log in. Enter "admin" as the user name. For the password, the default is either to leave it blank, or to use the word "password". The username and password are case-sensitive and should be entered all in lower-case letters.

Once you have logged in, the first page you will see is "Basic Setup". A few lines down, there is a section labeled "Security Settings". The space that says "pre-shared key" is your password.

Motorola Gateway:

In the address bar at the top left of your browser, enter "192.168.0.1" and hit enter or "go". You will be prompted to log in. Enter "admin" as the user name, and "motorola" as the password. The username and password are case-sensitive and should be entered all in lower-case letters.

Once you have logged in, from the menu on the very top click on "Wireless". This will change the menu on the left side. From here, select "Primary Network". In the middle section, there is a line that says "pre-shared key". Beneath it is a checkbox with the words "Show Key" next to it. Make sure the checkbox has a checkmark in it, and the space labeled "pre-shared key" will give you your wireless network password.

Archer Router:

In the address bar at the top left of your browser, enter "tplinklogin.net" and hit enter or press "Go". You will be prompted to log in. Enter "admin" as the user name, and "admin" as the password. The user name and password are case sensitive and need to be entered in all lower-case letters. If going to tplinklogin.net does not work to get a login prompt, try going to 192.168.0.1 instead.

Once you have logged in, there will be a menu on the left-hand side with options for Wireless 2.4GHz and Wireless 5.0GHz.  The Archer is a dual band router that projects two different kinds of wireless broadcasts, one at 2.4GHz and one at 5.0GHz, so you are dealing with two wireless networks.

You will have to repeat these steps for both, the 2.4 and the 5.0GHz network:

  • Click on the Wireless link (2.4 or 5.0 GHz). This will open a sub-menu underneath it.
  • Click on Wireless Security.
  • There will be a space that says "PSK Password" underneath your security type. This is your wireless password.
